Orientation Course: ‘Judges role vital to maintain balance in society’
“The judge has to make his way on a tight-rope,” says Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan.
ISLAMABAD:
A Supreme Court judge on Monday said that the role of a judge is vital to keep balance in society.
“The judge has to make his way on a tight-rope,” said Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan while addressing the participants of a week-long orientation course titled “Trial and appreciation of evidence”, arranged for Additional District and Sessions Judges at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).
According to a press release issued by the FJA, judges from all over Pakistan including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and G-B, attended the orientation session.
Justice Khan said, “While sitting on the bench, judges should not forget their prominent role in the society. They should realise that their role is pivotal to put the society on the path towards peace and progress.”
“We have to be just, fair and transparent in all walks of life. It is pitiable that we do not give our evidence honestly,” he added.
