Cricket: Mominul replaces Shakib for SL Tests
Bangladesh will play two Tests, three one-dayers and one Twenty20 during their month-long tour of Sri Lanka
DHAKA:
Bangladesh named middle-order batsman Mominul Haque to replace Shakib Al Hasan in next month’s Test series against Sri Lanka after the star all-rounder was ruled out due to injury. Bangladesh will play two Tests, three one-dayers and one Twenty20 during their month-long tour of Sri Lanka, with the first Test starting at Galle on March 8. Shakib, the 25-year-old former national captain, will have an operation in Australia this week for a shinbone injury which he has been suffering all season. Mominul Haque is a left-handed batsman and occasional spinner. Chief selector Akram Khan told AFP it would not be easy to manage without Shakib, especially against Sri Lanka in home conditions.
