ISLAMABAD:

Soon after the National Assembly passed the bill on Thursday, President Zardari approved Rs500 million for the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU)--capital’s first public-sector medical university.

Minister for CAD Nazar Gondal, while addressing a press conference at the Press Information Department on the same day, said that after approval of the bill by both houses, all medical colleges of the capital and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and hospitals of G-B will come under one degree-awarding body.

The minister said that currently, medical colleges and hospitals of Islamabad were affiliated with the Quaid-e-Azam University, which, after the establishment of the SZABMU, would come under its umbrella.
