Electioneering: PTI optimistic of winning from Swat
Imran Khan will contest election from NA-29 constituency.
SWAT:
Members of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday expressed their optimism about winning the elections from Swat.
Shaukat Yousafzai, the party’s political advisor and local leader, said Imran Khan will contest election from NA-29 constituency. Speaking to journalists here, he said the ruling party and other elected political leaders have only brought disappointment to the locals.
“People are disappointed with all the political parties and now they want a change. They are left with only one option which is to elect PTI,” he said, adding that PTI will be the next ruling party which will steer the country into a positive direction and bring prosperity to the land.
Previously, Khan contested from NA-29 but could not succeed. In the election of 1997, he got the third position by getting 10,716 votes while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Miangul Aurangzeb won the seat by grabbing 25,018 votes.
About the party’s previous defeats, Yousafzai said that though PTI is a relatively new party it still managed to get prominent votes from here.
