Landikotal APA injured in Khyber House blast succumbs to his wounds

The Assistant Political Agent (APA) of Landikotal, Khyber Agency Khalid Mumtaz Kundi succumbed to his injures at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar on Tuesday.

The APA was injured in when two suicide bombers stormed his office in the high security zone of Peshawar on Monday. That attack had killed five people and injured 10, including Kundi.

According to a security official, the APA had sustained severe injuries in his lower abdomen and legs when militants stormed the Khyber House. He was rushed to the CMH in critical condition and had to be operated on for 12 hours.


“Most of his lower abdomen was fatally hit by shrapnel.”

Kundi had been appointed as an APA Landikotal in early 2012. Prior to his assignment in Landikotal, he served as the APA of Jamrud for a short period. Agency Election Officer Haroon Shinwari who was a class fellow and close friend of Kundi termed his death a great loss for the tribesmen.

Recounting Kundi’s efforts for Landikotal, Haroon said that after being appointed as APA, Kundi had installed the solar power lights in the Landikotal Bazaar, constructed the Landikotal-Torkham Road, and compensated victims of the bomb explosions victims in the subdivision.
