Under the new rules, candidates will have to disclose their source of income for the past three years.
The candidates will also be required to provide the commission with details of their tax returns, children studying abroad and international travel history.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had earlier announced full cooperation with the commission to scrutinise the financial and taxation documents of all the hopeful candidates.
As per the new scrutiny process, the candidates with fake degrees will not be eligible to take part in the general elections.
The commission has also terminated the electoral lists from 2000 and 2008.
Previously, the ECP had instructed all political parties to conduct intra-party elections as part of an overall eligibility criteria to take part in the forthcoming general elections.

Very encouraging for us Pakistanis. We hope we will get rid of most of the corrupt people in the coming elections. If these rules are implemented, bright future of Paksitan ahead.
If these rules are implemented in letter & spirit, 90% of PPP & 80% of PLMN candidates will be disqualified.
I would like to hope that these measures are a reflection of the ECP's understanding of public demands, under the leadership of the learned Mr. Fakhruddin. All we need are 300 such people to "lead" us out of the mess in Pakistan. Seemingly, we are incapable of doing even this much.
Dear Pakistanis, each one of us must make sure their vote counts for something this time around and vote with your minds and conscience, not just your hearts or your pockets. This may well be the very last time you are able to vote at all. Make each one count!!!
