No rule: Emergency declared in major hospitals

Following the suicide attack on the Khyber Agency political agent’s office, an emergency was declared in all major hospitals of the city. The attack on Monday killed five and injured 11.


Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Accident and Emergency Department Director Dr Shiraz Afridi said nine wounded were brought to the hospital. However, two people succumbed to their injuries. Three bodies of Levies personnel were also brought to the hospital.


“As far as I remember, I was hit by bullets. I do not know what happened after that and who brought me here,” said one of the victims.

There were strict security measures at the hospital and the emergency department had been cordoned off by levies forces to avert any follow up attack.

Governor Shaukatullah Khan also visited the victims at the hospital.
