‘No Yda Connection’: 120 absentee doctors sacked
The young doctors remained ensconced in their camp outside Services Hospital despite the rain.
LAHORE:
The Health Department issued notices on Saturday terminating the services of 120 doctors for being absent from duty for a lengthy period.
A Health Department spokesman said that the sacked medical officers were not connected to the Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) Punjab.
“All legal requirements were fulfilled. Advertisements were published in newspapers in this regard before the absentees were terminated,” he said.
Meanwhile, the YDA Punjab’s hunger strike entered its 13th day on Saturday.
The young doctors remained ensconced in their camp outside Services Hospital despite the rain.
A YDA official told The Express Tribune that backdoor negotiations with the government had started, but there was nothing significant to report yet.
General Cadre Doctors Association (GCDA) President Dr Masood Sheikh was hopeful that the negotiations would be successful soon, after which the YDA would call off its hunger strike.
