ISLAMABAD:

The federal chapter of Young Doctors Association (YDA) staged a protest demonstration on Thursday to express solidarity with the young doctors of Punjab, who are on a hunger strike for the last 12 days.

They demanded of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to take suo motu notice against the apathy of the Punjab government, which has, according to them, consistently been victimising the young doctors.

The YDA could only manage to bring 15 to 20 members on the road to stage the car protest rally. The effort did however manage to create a traffic mess at the Jinnah Avenue, causing hardships to motorists.

The YDA members started off their rally from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), went to the National Institute of Rehabilitative Medicine (NIRM), the Polyclinic Hospital and ended it at the D-Chowk.

The doctors chanted slogans against the Punjab government and said that the absence of medicines, medical equipment and other facilities at government hospitals of Punjab have becomes a routine matter, causing problems to the poor patients visiting public sector hospitals.

Hospital conditions are very bad. I never saw a single patient getting free medicines. Equipments are not working. Government is not serious about health and Shahbaz goes abroad for health service .

Impound those cars which were used for traffic blockage. Arrest those drivers also and cancel their both driving and medical licenses permanently. Terminate those doctors from their service with no financial. Benefits.
