NAB raid: College raided, diploma forms seized

Officials in NAB said that the raid was carried out after a complaint was filed against the college.

LAHORE:
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday carried out a raid on what officials described as a bogus college and seized hundreds of diploma forms. The college – American International College – was setup in a small house in Barkat Market and was allegedly being run by Rana Muhammad Nawaz, who was arrested in the raid. Nawaz told investigators he received Rs 100,000 to Rs 500,000 for every degree. Some of the ‘graduates’ were working for the government, he suggested. Officials in NAB said that the raid was carried out after a complaint was filed against the college. They said an undercover NAB officer bought an MBA degree for Rs125,000 from the college before a formal inquiry was authorised. NAB Punjab Director Atiqur Rehman said that NAB would summon those who bought the bogus degrees as well as Nawaz’s accomplices.
