New province: Federation issued another notice
Counsel for the petitioners submitted that people of the two districts did not want to join the new province.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Federation for Thursday (today) on a second petition challenging the inclusion of Bhakkar and Mianwali in the new proposed Bahawalpur-South Punjab province. The high court is already hearing a petition filed on the matter. Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan issued the notice on the petition filed by a lawyers’ group from Bhakkar, World Optimistic Lawyers Forum. Counsel for the petitioners submitted that people of the two districts did not want to join the new province. He described it as “their right of freedom”. The judge remarked that there was no question of life and liberty here as people in both districts would eat and live.
