IBA grads get a shortcut to chartered accountancy
MoU signed with ICAP exempting grads from four modules of the CA programme.
Graduates of IBA’s BS programme will complete only two modules – E and F – and complete the chartered accountancy programme in just three years.
KARACHI:
The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) on Tuesday, which will give graduates of IBA’s BS (accounting and finance) programme the opportunity to become chartered accountants while exempting them from taking the first four modules (12 papers) of the CA curriculum.
IBA Dean and Director Dr Ishrat Husain and ICAP President Ahmad Saeed signed the MoU at IBA’s main campus.
It is the first time that ICAP has allowed graduates of a business school the opportunity to avail a fast-track chartered accountancy programme, Saeed said while speaking on the occasion. Under the MoU, graduates of IBA’s BS programme will complete only two modules – E and F – and complete the chartered accountancy programme in just three years.
Addressing the audience, Husain said “I was told that the ICAP management was rigid and would not agree to such a proposal. I am happy I proved my detractors wrong by bringing ICAP on board,” he said.
