Brazen assault: Seven injured in Quetta rocket attack

At least seven people, including women and children were wounded in rocket attacks on Quetta city late on Sunday night. The United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Police said that three rockets fired by unidentified people from unspecified locations landed at different parts of Quetta that caused panic and fear in the city.

Police said the first rocket hit the residence of police constable, Ahmed Jan at Khudadad Road that injured his two daughters Afsa, Gabreen, his wife and four other people, including a passerby Rozi Khan.

The second rocket landed at Pir Abdul Khair Road near Express News’ office adjacent to Prince Road while the third one landed near Alamdar Road causing no loss of life. However, windowpanes of several buildings were smashed and electricity cables suffered damage.

Police and Frontier Corps troops rushed to the blast sites and cordoned off the area.

Police and rescue workers shifted the injured to hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.


Meanwhile, Murid Baloch, a purported spokesman for UBA claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks. He said their target was Quetta Cantonment.

The attack was in reaction against the ongoing operation by the security forces in Awaran, Mashkay and Mastung areas, he said in a call made to a news agency (NNI) from an undisclosed location.

Meanwhile at least four persons were killed and two traders were kidnapped in separate acts of violence in Balochistan on Sunday.

Police said, a man who was identified as Sanaullah was gunned down by unknown armed men in Karakh area of Khuzdar .

In another incident, a man identified as Kanam was shot dead by armed assailants in the Tump area of Kech district.
