KARACHI: Two sisters, who had been kept in an apartment in Karachi since a month against their will, were traced by the police and the captors, Banu and Chanzaib, arrested during a raid in Tauheed Commercial, near Clifton police station, on Sunday.

Clifton SSP Nasir Aftab told The Express Tribune that Banu, brought them to Karachi from Faisalabad promising that she would get them work as housemaids through which they would earn Rs30,000 per month. Banu works as a prostitute. She used the assistance of a man, Chanzaib, to force the girls into prostitution as well, said Aftab. One of the sisters called her mother who arrived in Karachi and called the police.

During the initial investigation, Banu claimed that she had given Rs250,000 to the victims’ uncle and had brought the girls with the family’s consent. The girls’ mother denied these allegations and claimed that the family had no idea that Banu was a prostitute.

SHO Waheed Awan explained that FIR 36/13 had been registered against the culprits and case was still being investigated.
