HARIPUR:

The higher judiciary is committed to safeguarding the state together with law and justice. This was said by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Dost Muhammad Khan at the oath-taking ceremony of Haripur District Bar Association on Saturday.

CJ Khan said the bar and bench are responsible for the dispensation of justice which is acceptable to all parties engaged in litigation. Without referring to any specific incident, the CJ said that the decisions of past rulers had caused deterioration in the society and exposed the country to crises, but the country could be steered to safety once the judiciary gets the people’s support and lawyers and judges join hands in providing justice to the people.

For putting an end to the corruption among clerical staff in the judiciary, he said both judges and lawyers ought to join hands by performing their duties on merit. He said judges and their clerks were paid with taxpayer money, so they need to fulfil the requirements of justice.

The chief justice also laid the foundation stone of the Rs47.519 million Haripur Judicial Complex, which is spread over 61 kanals.
