SUKKUR: The repair work at Tori Bund resumed on Wednesday following a brief break for the Eid holidays and work is expected to be completed today (Thursday) or Friday.

Ghouspur Bund repairs are expected to be finished within a couple of days.

Following the catastrophic floods, Tori Bund had developed three breaches, around 3,000 feet wide, inundating many upper and lower districts of Sindh. The breaches in the Ghouspur Bund were around 1,000 feet wide.

“More than 75 per cent of repair work at Tori Bund had been completed before Eid, and now it is likely to be completed by Thursday,” Brigadier Amanat, incharge of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), told The Express Tribune.

“Repair work at Ghouspur Bund was also 50 per cent completed before Eid and hopefully it will be finished within a couple of days.”

However, some sources in the area claim that only 70 per cent work at Tori Bund has been finished yet. They added that the authorities will start repairing other bunds such as Ghouspur only when work at Tori has been completed.

Meanwhile, the road connecting Shikarpur and Jacobabad has been repaired and opened for heavy vehicles. The road between Jacobabad and Dera Allah Yar has also been restored.
