KARACHI: One policeman was killed while six people including two police officers sustained injuries in a bomb attack targeting a police vehicle in Orangi Town, Karachi.

Earlier Express News had reported on Thursday that the explosion could have been the result of a grenade attack.

The deceased was a head constable.

"A low-intensity remote-controlled bomb planted on a footpath exploded in Orangi town injuring six people, including three of our officials. One policeman died in a hospital," police official Naveed Nasir told AFP.

"Another police official is in critical condition," he said.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

SP Orangi Town told Express News that the police mobile belonging to Mominabad police station was destroyed in the blast.

"We can't say who is behind this attack, but it is certainly a part of the terror campaign aimed at police officials that has killed and injured scores in the last two months," said another official Ahmed Khan.
