FAISALABAD:

A man, his wife and two children were burned on Thursday in a fire that started due to a gas leak from a room heater.

D-Type Colony police said that Farrukh, 25, a resident of Samundri Road near D-Type Bridge, forgot to switch off a room heater before the family went to bed. After some time, they said, he woke up and noticed the gas smell.

When he switched on the light to see what was causing the smell, the room caught fire.

It spread across the room in minutes.

Some neighbours noticed it and called the Rescue 1122 service. Before help arrived, they tried to break in the locked doors. The family was pulled out and fire was put out in an hour. Farrukh, his wife Fizza, and children Ali Hussain and Haseebul Hasan were injured and taken to Allied Hospital, where doctors treating them said that Farrukh was in critical condition.

Dr Sharif, the ward in charge, said that Farrukh was 65 per cent burned.
