KARACHI:

The ban on appointments in lower grades by the Election Commission of Pakistan [ECP] has resulted in a new wave of support for Pakistan People’s Party [PPP], said the party’s general secretary, Taj Haider, in a statement on Saturday.

He claimed that the ban has curtailed the legal authority of the current government and will negatively impact thousands of people looking for work.

“The right to work is a basic right. It is sad that the effort to fulfill this genuine need is being termed as a political bribe by ECP,” he lamented.

“We [PPP] had hoped to accommodate as many unemployed as possible in lower grade jobs before our terms ends,” he explained.
