Site office for potable water project inaugurated

The site office for a French-funded project for supplying potable water was inaugurated this week. The inauguration was presided over by Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Waheed Akhtar Ansari.


The FDA managing director said that work on a treatment plant with a capacity of 20 cusecs had started on January 28. He said it would take a month to complete.

He said that the project to supply potable water to the entire Faisalabad district would be completed in three years at an estimated cost of Rs5.13 billion. Of this, Rs3.79 billion was being provided by the French government.


He said that a 10 million gallon treatment pond will be built under this project at the Water Works in Jhal Khannuana. Ten tube wells will also be installed along the Rakh Branch Canal bank to provide five million gallons of water.



The MD said that 6.5 kilometers long water supply lines would be laid as part of this project. Twelve water pumps would be replaced and 51 bulk flow meters, 585 industrial meters and 20,000 domestic meters would be installed.

He said that the project would serve more than 350,000 people in Faisalabad.

The areas benefitting from the project are: Amin Town, Raza Park, Mian Pind, Muhammad Town Malik Pur, Quaid-i-Azam Block, Sardar Colony, Saeed Colony, Khayaban Colony, Mimmatpura, Hasanpura, Changar Mohallah, National Colony, Yousuf Town, Elahiabad, Rachna Town, Chaman Zar Colony, Jhanda Pir, Millat Colony, Abadi Korian, Abadi Wazeer Wali, Iron Market, Rasheed Nagar, Satellite Town, Muzaffar Colony, Risala No12, Ayub Colony, Liaqatabad, Liaqat Town, Gulshan-i-Hayat, Shahbaz Town, Raheem Town, Ali Housing, Badar Colony, Walipura, Marzipura, Charagh Town, Ghisanpura, Usman Ghani Town, Sulemania Colony, Bismillah Park, Mehmoodabad, Shadman Town, Hajveri Town, Negehbanpura, Sant Singhwala and Manzoor Park.
