Switching sides: Bahawalpur’s MA Durrani joins PML-F

The development will unnerve political parties as it has given PML-F a foothold in South Punjab.

KARACHI:

An influential politician from Bahawalpur and a former federal information minister, Muhammad Ali Durrani, formally joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Function (PML-F) on Monday, said party officials.

The development will unnerve political parties as it has given PML-F a foothold in South Punjab. The party has also announced to jointly contest elections with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal and Sindh United Party (SUP).

Durrani met Rashdi at the latter’s residence, where he signed the party’s membership form. “You will hear the good news soon from Bahawalpur,” he said. The former information minister was part of PML-Quaid.

Durrani said the PML-F has assured support to restore the autonomous status of Bahawalpur. “We don’t accept the dummy parliamentary commission. The people of Bahawalpur will never agree to its recommendations.”
