Mangla dam: Water storage falls below dead level
Mangla Dam, is declining, and has fallen below the dead level.

As temperature hits freezing point in the upper reaches, the water level in the country’s second largest reservoir, Mangla Dam, is declining, and has fallen below the dead level. Water receded to the level of 1,138.20 feet on Tuesday compared to the dead level of 1,040 feet, officials said. Maximum water level for the dam is 1,242 feet. According to officials of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), inflow of water into Mangla from Jhelum River on Tuesday was 9,200 cusecs compared to release of 10,000 cusecs from the reservoir.
