Bilawal Bhutto says people should be informed about rival parties’ propaganda.

KARACHI:

Elected representatives should wind up their developmental schemes within 45 days in order to focus on election campaigning, said PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a meeting at Bilawal House on Monday.

The meeting comprised of office bearers from districts in Sindh, including Qambar-Shahdadkot, Badin, Matiari and Tharparkar. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman met officials of each district separately to discuss developmental progress.

PPP leaders informed Bilawal about the pace of development schemes and impact of the social sector programmes in each district. They also apprised him of the political situation in each district.

The chairman directed district officials to keep close contact with the masses and start preparations for the next elections. He stressed that the masses must be informed about the opponent parties’ propaganda against the government, said a spokesperson for the chairman.

PPP had provided development schemes and jobs on merit to every district, and had loyally implemented a large portion of its election manifesto despite economic constraints and a law and order crisis, added the chairman. “PPP government delivers and fulfills its promises,” he added. “Free and independent media is a cornerstone of democracy.”

Talking to The Express Tribune, PPP workers said that the meeting was called to review the progress of the MPAs, MNA and senators.  “All elected representatives have submitted their five years performance report,” one the MNAs said, adding that leadership of the party emphasised on the need to organise at grass-roots level.  “We also briefed the president and chairman about our opposition candidates,” he said.

Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Taj Haider, Ayaz Soomro, Lal Bux Bhutto and Shagufta Jumani were present during each district’s meeting.

Those who attended the meeting included Makhdom Ameen Fahim, Makhdoom Jameel uz Zaman, Pir Amjad Ali Shah and others. Dr Fehmida Mirza, Ghulam Ali Nizamani, Senator Khatu Mal, Sharjeel Memon, Mahesh Malani, Gul Muhammad Lot, Hasnain Mirza, Bashir Ahmed Khan, Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandro, M. Nawaz Chandio, Engr. Giyan Chand and others were present in the Badin and Tharparkar districts meetings.

@Yawer Amin: A chance for what? Politics, democracy and Pakistani's are not Bhutto's family estate! If you want to give a chance to some, give it to the person who starts from the grass root and makes his/her way up. Not a person who has lived his life outside of Pakistan and has financial interests outside of it.

Social work & development projects? These two words clearly have a very different meaning in junior Zardari's & PPP's dictionary.
