GUJRANWALA: A man was beaten up by some people on Sunday for trying to rape a girl, who was visiting him to get an amulet. He was then handed over to police. Baghbanpura police said that Muhammad’s Ramazan’s daughter Irum, 17, was married a month ago. A few days later, they said, she started having fits. They said her in-laws took her to Nazir Ahmed for ‘spiritual cure’. Her in-laws told the police that the ‘pir’ took the girl to a separate room. They said a few minutes later they heard Irum shout for help and broke into the room. The ‘pir’ was caught and beaten up by the family. He was dragged out on the road, where more people joined in. He was later handed over to the police.
