‘Anti-judiciary’ protest: SBC suspends practice licences of four lawyers
Lawyers spoke against SC orders to arrest PM.

Criticism of the apex court has cost four lawyers dearly as the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) has suspended their practice licences.
The four lawyers - three assistant advocate generals and a deputy district attorney - had allegedly criticised the Supreme Court and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while protesting against the apex court’s order to arrest Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in the rental power plants scam. The bar council’s vice chairman ordered the suspension of licences of AAG Zafar Ahmed Siddiqui, AAG Nafees Ahmed Usmani, AAG Qazi Muhammad Bashir and DDA Abdul Samad, who all work for the Sindh law department.
The lawyers were issued show-cause notices as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for taking part in private activity being government employees and passing inappropriate remarks about the institution.
In case these advocates still appear at courts, they would be liable to be punished as warranted under Section 58(2) of the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973, the SBC further ordered.
