Price trend: Index registers ease in inflation
SPI for the week ended January 17 registered a decrease of 0.33%.
ISLAMABAD:
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended January 17 registered a decrease of 0.33% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 185.84 points against 186.45 points registered in the previous week, according provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for combined groups was down 0.41%; down from 191.79 points in the previous week to 191.01 points this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups is inflated 7.31%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows: seven items registered a decrease, 23 items increased and the remaining 23 items’ prices remained unchanged.
