He further said that the US would like to see free and fair elections in Pakistan.

Speaking to media in Islamabad, Olson also commented on recent Line of Control conflict between Pakistan and India. He said the two countries need to work together for peace in the region and the ceasefire agreement along the LoC is encouraging.

What total nonsense. Everybody knows the US supports any type of Government, which is to America's advantage. A good example is US support of Saudi Arabia, which has to be the least democratic country on earth.

We all know the Democratic Party supports democracy in other countries whereas Republicans support Kings, Sheiks, and military dictators. That is why when a Republican is elected there is euphoria in Pakistani establishment. When Clinton visited India and a short visit to Pakistan he refused to be seen in any picture with Gen Mush. With Obama's re-election the US govt is not going to be friends with anti-democratic forces. Gen Zia and Mush have exploited the presence of Republican presidents to their dictatorial advantage but it is 21st century and America is changing fast.
