90-day condition: LHC asked to stop Vehari by-election

Court was asked to stop the by-poll.

LAHORE:

A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court asking it to stop a by-election in Vehari scheduled for February 18 by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Muhammad Ashfaq and other voters of PP-249, Vehari, filed the petition saying that the constitutional term of the incumbent parliament was due to end in March 2013 and by-elections could not be held less than 90 days before general elections. They asked the court to stop the by-poll.
