KARACHI: Left-arm spinner Muhammad Irfan claimed a five-wicket haul to spin Lahore Shalimar to a 72-run win over Abbottabad in their Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Group-II match at the Gohati Stadium in Swabi.

Abbottabad started the final day on 150 for six with defeat imminent, needing to score 328 but were bowled out for 258 in 69.1 overs. National team discard Yasir Hameed top-scored with 51 while Hammad Ali scored 50.

Aizaz Cheema and Saad Nasim bagged two wickets each and gave enough support to Irfan to help their team register the win.

The victory gave Lahore Shalimar the maximum nine points and put them in joint-top position with Karachi Whites. Both teams have accumulated 21 points from their four matches and have two wins each under their belt.
