KARACHI:

The office of the election commission located at the district and sessions court, South, was finally evacuated by the office bearers of the Karachi Bar Association after several notices on Wednesday.

KBA President Naeem Qureshi said that despite several notices and the directions by the Sindh High Court chief justice to evacuate the office in 2009, they did not move out - till Wednesday. Qureshi said that the office was evacuated for making a dispensary for city courts. “We had intimated the election commissioner to vacate the office 15 days ago but they didn’t.” The staff of the election commission said that they were working on the new voters lists at the office when the members of association asked them to vacate the office. Sindh Election Commissioner Mehboob Anwar has assured that the office would be vacated in eight days, said Qureshi.
