UMT: Progress reports presented at academic meeting

The discussion focused on new measures to be adopted to facilitate students.

“The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has grown in every academic department and the market has responded well to the new programmes introduced by the University,” said UMT Rector Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad, delivering the opening remarks in the 15th Meeting of the Academic Council of UMT on Wednesday.


Dr Murad said a wholehearted effort should be made to excel on all academic parameters. He added that quality enhancement initiatives as per the guidelines of the Hight Education Commission should be strengthened.

Deans and directors of various schools and institutes of UMT presented progress reports of the past year. Semester activity reports and overview of the quality of new programs launched last year were also presented. The discussion focused on new measures to be adopted to facilitate students. Future development plans, such as the establishment of the Institute of Communication and Cultural Studies, new programs in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and other academic development initiatives were also discussed. The director of the UMT Sialkot Campus presented a report a progress report. He said that the market had given an overwhelming response to the Sialkot campus. He said that the Sialkot campus was poised to become the referral point for higher education by the local community and adjoining areas.
