Rabi season: Wheat sowing registers 1% growth

Wheat has been cultivated on over eight million hectares of land across the country during the current Rabi season.

ISLAMABAD: Wheat sowing in Sindh increased 1% compared to sowing over the same period last year as about 0.98 million hectares of land has been used to plant the crop so far against 0.97 million hectares last year. Wheat has been cultivated on over eight million hectares of land across the country during the current Rabi season to cater the domestic demand and for export purpose, said an official of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research. Talking to APP here Tuesday, he said that wheat sowing in the country during same period of last year was recorded at 8.1 million hectares.
