Petition filed in SC to stop Qadri's million-man march
Plea says Qadri should adopt constitutional methods to protest against current democratic system.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court requesting the court to stop Minhajul Quran Interntaional (MQI) chief Tahirul Qadri’s ‘million-man march’ scheduled for January 14, Express News reported Tuesday.
The petitioner, Advocate Asad Mahmood, maintained that if Qadri has any reservations regarding the current democratic system, then he should take up constitutional methods to protest against it.
He added that the MQI chief had a lot of followers to support him.
Earlier, a petition was filed in the Lahore registry of the Supreme Court, asking the court to stop Qadri and Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain from political activities in Pakistan because they are both “foreign nationals and unable to become members of parliament”.
The petition had said that Qadri was threatening to bring down a democratic set up and by doing so, he was violating Articles 6, 8, 9, 62, 17, and 67 of the constitution.
The petition also stated that Qadri has committed treason by “inciting” the army and “inviting” the judiciary to be part of the caretaker set up.
