Shahzeb Khan’s father denied reports that the family has accepted Rs250 million and agreed to withdraw the murder case.
Calling the story fake, DSP Aurangzeb told The Express Tribune that there is no truth in the story. “I will never accept money in return for my son’s murder. I will never take back the charges.”
He believed that it was part of the propaganda from the accused men - Nawab Siraj Talpur and Shahrukh Jatoi. “The families of the murderers want to destroy the justice movement,” he said. “Let me tell them that their dirty tactics will not work. We will never accept money. We want justice. We want the criminals to be hanged.”
Another newspaper published a story that a deal of Rs250 million has been finalised between Shahzeb’s and Shahrukh’s families. The story was, however, taken down from the website a few hours later. The followers of ‘In the Memory of Shahzeb Khan’ Facebook page, said it was shameful that the newspaper printed such baseless news. Nevertheless, the reporter stood his ground. The news of the deal was given to him by his “intelligence sources”, he said.

@jangloos Diyaat is definitely acceptable in Islam, but in Pakistan, this is accepted usually as a means of avoiding more death ofyour near and dear ones at the hands of these very same people.
People like these waderas, once they have made the payment and the case is closed, will not sit idly back seeing their money spent by the aggreived family. They will ensure a large chunk of it is returned back to them, one way or the other!
@Omar,
Bhai this concept is completely accepted in Islam and is known as "Diyaat". If the family chooses the monetary compensation they have the complete right to do so. All said an done, i hope they dont and the culprits get what they deserve; a ever tightening rope around their necks
Something on those lines seems very plausible. We have a tradition of "muk-muka" in Pakistan. The "grieving Party" always denies rumors, yet accepts them in private and become low profile after that. See raymond davis case as an example. We could not even punish the not so well-connected thugs in ghastly murder of two brothers in Sialkot, so with the high profile connections of these waderas, NOTHING will happen as well. Pretty soon we will move on to another "breaking news" as always and life will go on.sadly, this is how my Pakistan functions.
