District and sessions judge Hassan Feroze directed authorities at Hyderabad Central Jail to produce undertrial prisoners at courts on a regular basis to avoid unnecessary delays in the hearing of their cases.
He issued the directives during a visit to the jail on Saturday. According to the jail’s superintendent, Shabbir Jan Sarhindi, 938 convicts and 834 under trial prisoners are housed in the prison.
Feroze also directed jail officials to allow the prisoners to get fresh air for two hours in the morning and one hour in the evening.
Inmates also complained to the judge about unhygienic living conditions and the shortage of necessary medicines inside the prison. The court has been maintaining a regular check on the prison to ensure that the prisoners are provided necessary facilities.
