KARACHI:

The judiciary gives importance to petty issues but it is avoiding taking up the ZA Bhutto reference case, said information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

At the 85th birth anniversary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on Saturday, Memon said that they submitted a petition to revisit Bhutto’s case, “who was hanged for a crime he did not commit”.

Memon said that PPP will sweep the upcoming elections. Several PPP leaders, including education minister Pir Mazharul Haq, Senator Saeed Ghani, PPP information secretary Waqar Mehdi and MPA Humera Alwani were present at the cake-cutting ceremony at PPP media cell.

Talking to the media after the ceremony, Sindh Assembly speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that Tahirul Qadri, the leader of Minhajul Quran international, appears to be a shadow of generals Zia and Musharraf, who initially claimed to bring reforms in the country, but then ruled for personal gains.

“There is no difference between Tahirul Qadri and the then dictators because he is using the same language,” he said. The birth anniversary celebrations were also held at 70 Clifton by PPP-Shaheed Bhutto’s Ghinwa Bhutto.
