The polio campaign in Hyderabad, which was stopped midway after the killings of polio workers in Karachi and Peshawer, completed successfully on Sunday.

The campaign, originally scheduled for December 17 to December 19, restarted in Hyderabad on Saturday and finished on Sunday.

During the campaign, lady health workers administered polio vaccines to children under five years. They covered all four talukas of Hyderabad - Hyderabad City, Latifabad, Qasimabad, and Hyderabad Rural.

The health workers were provided security by the police and Rangers personnel. Officials of the World Health Organisation and the government health department were also present.

Meanwhile, a two-day polio campaign in Tando Jam began on Sunday. A total of eight teams - five for Tando Jam and three for surrounding areas - will administer polio vaccines. Each team is accompanied by two policemen. The teams also visited Moosa Khatian, Tando Qaisar and Khesana Mori. They also set up a camp at the main bus stop on Mirpurkhas-Hyderabad road and administered polio drops to children travelling with their parents.
