Modernising fisheries : Govt plans fibreglass boat making unit

SIALKOT: The government is planning to set up a fibreglass boat manufacturing unit soon.

Official sources told APP on Sunday that the concept of initiating the project was to put fisheries sector on modern track. The sources said the fibreglass boats are lightweight hence consume less fuel as compared with wooden boats.

Moreover, fibreglass is durable and highly resistant to environment extremes. The induction of fibreglass boats could be supportive in enhancing the fish export by replacing traditional techniques, officials said.
