Abandoned: Newborn left on restroom floor

HAFIZABAD: A newborn was abandoned at the district headquarters hospital on Sunday within an hour of its birth. Nurses at the labour room said that a woman came to the hospital with labour pains on Saturday night. On Sunday morning, before she was to be taken for labour, the nurses said, she went to the restroom. When she did not return, some nurses went to look for her and found a newborn girl on the restroom floor. Nursery In charge Shehnaz said that the nurses looked for the woman everywhere, but she was nowhere to be found. The newborn was taken to the nursery. Hospital administration said a complaint had been filed with the police.
