‘Lack of funds’: Under-construction burn unit now a parking lot
Construction of a 55-bed burn unit had started five years ago.
FAISALABAD:
An under-construction burn unit at the Allied Hospital has been converted into a parking stand, The Express Tribune has learnt. Construction of a 55-bed burn unit had started five years ago.
It was to be completed in a-year-and-a-half. In November this year, the hospital administration stopped work on the burn unit and decided instead to convert it into a parking stand. Had it been completed, it would have been the first burn unit in the region. Hospital administration said construction had to be stopped due to lack of funds. Doctors at Allied Hospital said that patients with up to 50 per cent burns could be saved with a proper burn unit. Currently, they said, it was impossible to save even those with 30 per cent burns.
