According to a press release, the PHF extended sincere condolences to the families of those killed and injured in these tragic and senseless attacks, and called on all parties to respect and ensure the safety of men and women working to assist those in need.  The health workers were targeted for their efforts to protect children and contribute to efforts to eradicate polio.
