Corruption: Cases registered against seven, including SHO

Mumtazabad police had raided a fake tea factory on a tip-off on Monday.

Cases were registered against seven police officials, including a station house officer, on Friday for allegedly accepting a bribe to forgo prosecution after fake tea was seized a few days ago.

Mumtazabad police had raided a fake tea factory on a tip-off on Monday. Its owner, identified as Sarwar, had fled.

However, the policemen allegedly made a deal with Sarwar later to return the confiscated ‘tea’.


On Wednesday night, when the tea was being loaded on a truck at the police station, Criminal Investigation Agency officials raided the place and arrested seven policemen.

A report in this regard was sent to the city police officer, who has directed the superintendent (investigation) to hold an inquiry.

The SP has found the suspects guilty and registered cases against them.
