Cricket: Moody hails Sri Lanka’s Herath

He’s got the tools. He’s only short so he doesn’t get [much] bounce: Former Sri Lanka coach

Former Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody believes a lot will depend on spinner Rangana Herath’s performances if they are to come good against Australia in the Test series starting in Hobart on Friday. ‘’He’s a very clever bowler,” said Moody, according to WAtoday.com.au. “He’s got the tools. He’s only short so he doesn’t get [much] bounce. He turns the ball both ways and he’s got wonderful control and control of his pace as well –he changes that very, very cleverly and this could be vital against Australia. He’s a classical finger spinner who uses every bit of his skill to his advantage.’’ Herath, currently ranked number two in the ICC rankings, has taken more Test wickets than South Africa’s Dale Steyn and England’s James Anderson in the past two years.
