Lala Gulam Sarwar father of Yusuf Khan (Dilip Kumar) shifted to Bombay in the year 1932 long before the formation of pakistan and like many others Dilip sahib has decided to continue in India even after the partition, this decission I beleive eas out of compulsion. Allah Knows best.
@sandy: Very stunning and regrettable that the person in question had not opted for India ,since his father had shifted his business from Peshawar to Bombay . Yousaf khan /delip kumar had to accompany his family over there. It was by chance that he was introduced to film industry by a Hindu lady DEVICA, who owned & ran her studio , by the moral support of a Pathan world renowned director and producer MEHBOB KHAN , delip kumar emerged as a top level actor in Indian industry .
A brillant idea of honouring Dalip Sahib alias Yousuf Sahib. He is the pride of sub continent. Pakistan has shown his magnanimity in showering praise and honoring the great actor. I wish all the best for the long life, health and prosperity. I also congratulate Mrs.Saira Bano ji on birthday of his miya.
No doubt, Yusuf Khan (Dilip Kumar) has famed the city of Peshawar in the entire sub-continent. The KPK government deserves every appreciation for the celebration of 90th birthday of this great artist, a person from the remote, orthodox city of Peshawar, a muslim by religion competed with all the bigwigs of Indian cinema and stood tall amongst all. Happy Birthday, Dilip Kumar.
I always though that best method actor from KP was our beloved Asfand Yar
I as the citezen of this country and by birth a Peshawerite , appreciate the traditional goodwill gesture of the kpk govt, who is going to celebrate the 90th birth day of the great son of this soil ,who has changed and anchanted the whole Boliwood film indutry by his classic film characteristic roles during the last 60 years . Let us all pray to ALMIGHTY to lethen his life and strenthen him for the sacred cause to serve and entertain the people of Subcotinant till his last moment .
@Mirza, Just to clraify CHC is a private body with no concern with the government. This initiative to celebrate the birthday has come from the civil society. Not from the government. Your comments about rightwing extremists and their supposed opposition to progressive democratic coaltion has no place here.
it is strange that a person who chose India over pakistan is celebrated. if that is the case, people who were driven out should also be celebrated - the likes of dev anand, sunil dutt, rajesh khanna, sadhna....
Imagine if Dilip Kumar's parents had decided to move to KP instead of choosing to live in India ! God knows how many more Dilip Kumar's there would have been if KP had been a normal place.
Good news. A brilliant actor who truly deserves it. Art should be appreciated since it has no boundaries
A great decision by the elected govt. We should be proud of our heritage and achievements of our people. It also proves once again why rightwing extremists are against the progressive democratic coalition govt?
