Fertiliser: Supplies remain suspended for 5 days
Transport of of fertilisers has been suspended for past five days on account of a strike by goods transporters.
KARACHI:
The supply of over 25,000 tons of diammonium phosphate (DAP) from the Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (FFBL) plant to dealers and farmers has remained suspended for the last five days because of ongoing strike of the Goods Transporters’ Union, an FFBL statement said on Friday.
Not restoring DAP supplies immediately will delay the sowing of wheat crop in major parts of the country, the statement added.
The FFBL statement also said some politically motivated elements are harassing truckers in transit at Hyderabad Toll Plaza on clumsy grounds. It asked senior authorities to intervene immediately to resolve the issue.
FFBL, which is the only urea and DAP production plant situated on the outskirts of Karachi, is unable to transport its products across Pakistan, which has created DAP shortage in northern parts of the country.
