LAHORE:

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Pakistan has raised ethical and professional concerns at the King Edward Medical University acting vice chancellor studying for a PhD in the same university and urged Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to step in.

In a statement issued on Friday, YDA Pakistan officials stated that Dr Asad Aslam Khan, the acting vice chancellor, was studying as a PhD student at the university and one of his subordinates was acting as his supervisor.

They said this was unprecedented and questioned how the degree could be considered credible.

They said that the acting vice chancellor had signed the minutes of the meeting at which the make-up of the panel of examiners for the defence of his thesis was approved. “Will the vice chancellor sign his own degree as well?” asked the YDA officials, including Dr Rana Sohail, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Aurangzeb, Dr Aslam Rao, Dr Khuda Bux, Dr Kamran and Dr Khalid ldrees.

They said that they had sent written complaints about the situation to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, to the Higher Education Commission and to the chief minister.

Everything and anything goes in Pakistan, the vice chancellor somehow does not have any common sense and most likely never raised to distinguish between right and wrong. Mr.Vice Chancellor, It is called conflict of interest like fox guarding the chicken coop. It seems the young generation is looking after the country and perhaps they are the hope of the country.
