The robbers got into a fire fight with SSP Naveed Khawaja as they exited the bank.

Bank heist: Robbers steal Rs4.5 million from Tipu Sultan bank

KARACHI: Seven armed men allegedly stole millions of rupees from a branch of Meezan Bank in Tipu Sultan area on Friday.

This is the 21st bank robbery to take place this year.

According to SHO Irfan Meo, the robbers spoke Siraiki and Balochi. They knew the bank’s internal system well and were able to collect more than Rs4.5 million within five minutes, he claimed.

He also mentioned that the robbers stole the pistol from one of the security guards deputed at the bank.

SHO Meo added that the police have been able to acquire CCTV camera footage of the robbers and will use it to trace them.

The security guards present at the incident have also been detained for questioning, he added.

SSP Naveed Khawaja claimed that the robbers were riding on three motorcycles and they fired at him when he was returning from the bank.

The culprits, though in their haste to escape a fire fight left behind a motorcycle and two pistols. However, no one was hurt in the exchange of fire.

The incident occurred within the limits of the Tipu Sultan police station.

The robbers collected 4.5 million rupees in just 5 minutes.

The Police must arrest the day light robbers and recover the money as soon as possible, otherwise, the bad guys will be using the money for terrorists acts some where in the country.
