The leaders of both the parties addressed a press conference in Faisalabad after holding a meeting, where they said that it was necessary for all parties to come together for the benefit of the country.
SIC Chairman Haji Sahibzada Fazal Karim, addressing the press conference, said that his party will talk to all national parties and keep all options open.
“We will make efforts to bring together a large national council consisting of patriotic national parties to stand against terrorism,” Karim said.
PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that one party alone cannot solve the country’s problems, while Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that talks between the two parties took one year to materialise.
SIC General Secretary Haji Haneef Syed said that the seat adjustment was for the implementation of a system put forward by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). “Both the parties agree that Pakistan is an Islamic Republic. Pakistan is not a secular state.”
He added that it was the party’s top-most priority to rid the country of terrorism.

Sunni Ittehad Counil enjoys massive public support in Pakistan and over the time PML Q had never been sympathetic towards Taliban as Sunni Ittehad Council had never been, so this alliance is natural, will irk Taliban and prove to be beneficial for either parties.
@Khawar: Khawar I think you are missing the point that their is a law in the country and people whether lal masjid or any one cannot come out and start to dismantle a system. If you really think that the Lal Masjid lot were right than probably you need a brain transplant. And the way we Muslims are behaving in Pakistan we will be handing over this beautiful country to all who want to see its destruction. Muslims have always lost when they fight amongst themselves. A story repeated from Spain, to Ottomans, to Mughals and now Pakistan. Israel is a creation of our infighting. Lets not be a tribe but lets become a Pakistani and a Ummah.
Birds of a feather flock together.... Both these parties are creativity of ISI under runaway dictator Pervez Musharraf ! "Pakistan ka Khuda he Haafiz" last words by Dictator Musharraf.
A +ve culture may grow in the country. The sunnis may secure the country from the forthcoming dangers of terrorists and their pioneers.
hota hai shab-o-rooz tamasha mirey agay ;)
I really hope to God that none of these parties win any seat in the next general election. As national political parties if they have not understood the nomenclature of Pakistan than they are misssing the whole point. Politics in Pakistan if fought on language or sect will lead to more hatred and than we are doomed to fail and no one other than our enemies will be pleased to see this. Can these leaders for once think as Pakistani and not as a power grabbers, for the sake of the country. Please, Please be a Pakistani first not a Muslim league person or a Sunni, or any one else just be a Pakistani for the sake of PAKISTAN.
IF they really claim to follow ISLAM, i dont understand how they can ally with those who loot and plunder the country
bad news for SSP and LeJ :)
So do we have a new fathers of nation as the real father's ideas have been ditched
Pakistan should be made a secular state. Period.
The idea behind the formation of SIC was to provide a single platform to all scattered Sunni factions, which is yet to be fulfilled. Political alliance with Q League isn’t going to be beneficial for SIC, resulting in disintegration. Sahibzada Fazal Karim might following some kind of "INSTRUCTIONS" !!!
Today, I lost a bit of respect I had for sunni council. They cleared doubts in my mind.
First the PML Q says they are the Quaids party who clearly said Religion has no role in the affairs of the state and now they say Pakistan is not a secular state. The poor Quaid must be turning in his grave.......sad sad sad state of affairs.
