The leaders of both the parties addressed a press conference in Faisalabad after holding a meeting, where they said that it was necessary for all parties to come together for the benefit of the country.
SIC Chairman Haji Sahibzada Fazal Karim, addressing the press conference, said that his party will talk to all national parties and keep all options open.
“We will make efforts to bring together a large national council consisting of patriotic national parties to stand against terrorism,” Karim said.
PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said that one party alone cannot solve the country’s problems, while Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that talks between the two parties took one year to materialise.
SIC General Secretary Haji Haneef Syed said that the seat adjustment was for the implementation of a system put forward by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). “Both the parties agree that Pakistan is an Islamic Republic. Pakistan is not a secular state.”
He added that it was the party’s top-most priority to rid the country of terrorism.
