Old enmity: Man dies in crossfire

Family alleged that Umar died because of doctors’ negligence.

GUJRANWALA:
A man died after he was caught in crossfire between two groups on Naushehra Sansi Road in Baghbanpura on Friday. Police said Chand Butt and Waheed groups traded fire over an old enmity. Umar was shot and taken to hospital where he died. Umar’s family put the body at Gondlanwala Chowk on GT Road and blocked traffic. They raised slogans against police and the doctors. They said Umar was alive when taken to the hospital. They alleged that he died because of doctors’ negligence. City Superintendent of Police Haroon Joya talked to the protesters and assured them of fair process. He also ordered immediate arrest of the killers. The body was sent for a postmortem examination.
