Snooker: Banned player withdraws appeal

Joe Jogia withdrew his appeal against a two-year ban for breaching snooker betting rules. The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) had suspended him in May and fined him £2,000, according to the BBC. “It is disappointing Joe chose to go down the route of an appeal that, in the view of our advisors, had no substance,” said WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson. “This has forced the WPBSA to bear significant legal costs in preparation for the appeal. It is my view that the action taken by the WPBSA in this case shows zero tolerance of breaches of the betting rules.”
